Competitor Guide
EVERYONE MUST KNOW
Be the first one to register in your division and be surprise seeing other competitors follow you!
This event will run on time, according to the schedule which is available online throughout the tournament. Competitors are expected in the bullpen to be called to fight at the time according to the online schedule. Competitors not present will be disqualified if they are not present within 5 minutes of their scheduled fight time.
By IBJJF regulations, youths 12 and younger can be grouped in the same bracket. When possible, we will split into separate boys and girls brackets, but depending on the size of the bracket, they may be combined.
Generally, juveniles (16-17 years old) are not permitted to fight in the adults bracket. However, we will try to offer an extra fight for juveniles, if we also have a willing 18 year old fighter that is the same weight and belt. If both parties agree, we will attempt to arrange a special fight.
Competitors with incomplete or unpaid registrations will be removed from the bracket when the registration is closed.
For the Weight In competitor must have the uniform on:
Gi (pants, jacket and belt)
No Gi (short and rash guard)
Clean Uniform in proper condition by PRIDEBJJ.com/Rules Avoid disqualifications, we will have uniform checker
Athletes with incomplete registration will be removed from the competitor list before the brackets release, with no guarantee to be re-included.
– Competitors will be grouped in age divisions not by the actual age, but by the year’s birthday. So, for events in 2024, consider the competitor age in 2024.
– Any competitor overweight will be disqualified (Kids, teens or Adults)
1. All Divisions with 4 or more competitors will have a ‘fight for 3rd’ place match. All divisions with only two competitors will have at least two fights / “Best of Three”
2. By the International Federation rules, MMA fighters, College Wrestlers and Judo Black Belts can not compete as a White belts.
3. ALL COMPETITORS MUST HAVE VALID ID TO COMPETE (Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their valid form of photo identification(ID) to the officials)
4. It is the parents responsibility to bring valid ID for their child competitors. ( Examples: Birth Certificate or copy, Passport, IBJJF Card, School ID with Birth Date )
5. The brackets will be organized by software, so that athletes from the same team will face each other no later than the semi final match.
6. All the medals will be awarded only on the podium at the completion of the division, for athletes who place in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their division. Please note we will not mail medals.
7. ONLY competitors with Early and Regular registration will receive a FREE event t-shirt
8. There is a limit on the number of athletes in order to guarantee a high quality event. We will be posting info on the social media.
9. PRIDE BJJ reserves the right to close registration when we reach full capacity, or on the day of the appointed event registration deadline, whichever comes first.
10. Clean gi and no gi uniform, in proper condition by Pridebjj.com / Rules. We will have a Gi Checker.
11. For Kids and Adults with special needs, please register and contact us ASAP with further info.
12. CREDITS CAN BE DIRECTLY APPLIED TO A FUTURE EVENT
Cancellations can be made up until the registration deadline, minus a 20% cancellation fee.
Due to administrative costs, a FULL REFUND will ONLY be issued if the competitor is the only one in a bracket. You may also request changes to your registration, such as moving up a weight division or, for masters athletes, moving down an age division, subject to approval. Injuries are not exceptions, and a 20% cancellation fee will be applied.
13. Pre-schedule (Kids morning – Adults afternoon) Official schedule will be released only Thursday (event week).
14. Competitors will receive, until Friday at the event week, the ring number and estimation fight time at the cell phone provided at the registration form.
15. Competitors must keep the kimono and belt tied all times while in the waiting or competition area.
16. For your safety and others, please don’t jump the barricades.
17. Arrive at the event only 60 minutes prior to your division schedule. The competitor should be warmed up by the time your bracket is called.
18. At the designated time, go to the concentration area, wearing your complete uniform to be inspected.
19. Keep checking the schedule because estimation time could be updated anytime. When your name shows up at the TV Screen you must stay in the concentration area.
20. You also can check the schedule at the concentration screen area.
21. Inside the concentration area, there will be a Ring Coordinator wearing a colete with your Ring Number. To avoid disqualifications, present yourself otherwise he/she will call your name three times only.
22. For the points system calculation, register under the same team name. Ex: Super Man BJJ is not the same as Super Man Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
23. No t-shirt under the jacket Gi. Only for female competitors sport bra or rash guards will be allowed.
24. LOYAL CLUB Rebate request are acceptable only by email until Regular Registration deadline.
KIDS & PARENTS MUST KNOW
- KIDS OBSERVATIONS
(Kids Competing in 4 and 5 year Old Brackets)
Submissions allowed. The referee will restart the fight from standing. At the end, both competitors arms will be raised.
They will receive a Gold medal and each of them will count as 1(one) point towards their academy score. - If necessary:
White and Grey Belt Kids may be mixed in groups similar in age and weight.
Grey and Yellow Belt Kids may be mixed in groups similar in age and weight.
Yellow and Orange Belt Kids may be mixed in groups similar in age and weight.
Orange and Green Belt Kids may be mixed in groups similar in age and weight. - GIRLS & BOYS will fight on the same bracket?
Girls and Boys 13 yrs old will compete SEPARATELY in their respective belt/weight division.
If there are two or more girls AND two or more boys in the same division, we may split them into separate divisions. - There are no Open divisions for Kids and White belts.
- There will be an Open division for Juvenile, ONLY for Blue and Purple belts Middle weight and above.
- In kids overweight cases, we will try our best to find a consolation fight. We don’t replace competitors in another division at the event.
AWARDS
- Gold Medal to all first place
- Silver Medal to all second place
- Bronze Medal to all third place
Eligibility:
You must be a current Jiu-Jitsu student in good standing, under some school or team, with the ability to provide your coaches info.
You must sign the waiver form correctly and be sure to fill in all information on official entry form.
Any false information given on the application will result in a disqualification.
You must be officially weighed in with your uniform on and your belt properly tied.
Only coaches and athletes are allowed in the weight in area.
No coaching will be permitted in any ring, at ringside or on the tournament floor at any time for all color belt divisions for all ages (except in the case of a medical emergency and ONLY to 4 and 5 yrs old competitors)
In the spirit the sport Jiu-Jitsu, the focus of each event will be competitor versus competitor.

Let’s learn lessons, respecting the opponent, staff and the public.
Be respectful to the staff, officials other athletes and coaches. In turn they will show you the same courtesy.
Be respectful to the referees, showing consideration and appreciation for the performance of his or her duties.
All referees are Black Belts and MAKE the final decision.

In the case that you registered and you can’t find your name on the list, please email us right away so we can resolve the problem.
If anyone needs to make any changes to their registration or any other, our software allows you to make changes to your registration by yourself, until Tuesday – the week of the event.
Please check all information, especially the weight limit of your division.
The weight on the division is the maximum weight wearing the uniform.
– Gi = Jacket, pants and belt
– No Gi = Rash guard and short
The competitor can weigh under this weight but not over it.
No changes will be made on the day of the event. Any overweight athlete (children or adults) will be disqualified, no credit or refund will be given as it is not our responsibility to make sure that competitor is in the correct division. No changes can be made by phone, we must have a paper trail of all requested changes.
– Uniform checkers will be at the concentration area.
In this event, even if the competitor loses the first fight, he will fight at least once again.
For Example, brackets with:
= 2 competitors / Best of three
= 3 competitors / Round Robin
= 4 or + competitors / competitors that lost their first fight will fight one another
Venue Guidelines:
Competitors can only enter the venue 60 minutes before he/she specific bracket starts.
All spectators must prepay as we have limitations on space and must account for each person.
For the sake of all competitors and staff, please check your temperature BEFORE coming to the event. If there are any signs of symptoms or high temperature or if you do not feel well, please remain at home and contact your health provider. This is extremely important for everyone involved.
If you are sick or have been exposed to someone that has tested positive for COVID- 19, please stay at home and contact your health provider.
All of our equipment will be properly sanitized prior to and during the event throughout the day.
